Occupying more than 70% of our planet's surface, the ocean has been the largest regulator of the Earth's environment, the foundation of human activities and prosperity. Since the coming into the 21st century, the economic feasibility of the marine industry has increased together with the advanced science and technology, and the importance of maritime security has also been emphasized. Therefore, the need for understanding, research and development of the ocean is further growing. To meet the requirements of the times, the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology(KIOST) operates the KIOST School. And the KIOST School aims to foster next generation international experts in marine science who challenge to solve global issues directly tied to the survival and prosperity of mankind.
