Since its establishment in 1966 as Korea’s first government-funded R&D institute, KIST has been playing an integral role in providing a firm foundation for S&T-based national development strategies and supplying domestic industries with advanced technologies. In addition, through its 16 specialized, spin-off Government Research Institutes, KIST has had substantial impact on national innovation systems. Going forward, our mission is to enhance the status of Korean S&T through the creation of new fundamental technologies. In line with this initiative, KIST School was founded as an educational institution hub for global innovation and education systems. The school provides research-oriented education in the field of new convergence technologies, and offers programs for several interdisciplinary majors, such as Bio-Medical Science & Technology, Energy and Environment Technology, Nanoscience and Technology and AI-Robotics. We will strive to proactively respond to the rapidly changing environment of the future by providing various research-focused educational opportunities which emphasize convergence technology and nurturing excellent S&T talents who can lead our society into the future.
