The goal of the Basic Science Major is to cultivate the next generation of basic science research leaders through world-leading research based on the UST-IBS Campus’ world-class faculty members and research infrastructure. It provides in-depth concentration curricula, particularly in the following research areas conducted by the IBS HQ Centers: cognition and sociality (brain science), underground physics to study new particles using underground facilities, theoretical physics of complex systems, and exotic nuclear studies using heavy ion accelerators.
