The Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) has been conducting pioneering R&D related to ships. KRISO will continue to play a pivotal role in promoting the growth of the maritime industry and supporting government research policies. The Ships and Ocean Engineering major covers a broad range of subjects, including the hydrodynamics of marine vessels, green ship technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safety to prevent marine accidents, the development of high-tech equipment and applied systems for exploiting ocean resources, marine information and communication, offshore structures and plants for utilizing marine resources, the design and functional evaluation of offshore structures, signal processing for sonar and acoustic channel modeling, and the design and implementation of underwater and maritime digital communication systems. KRISO has extensive experimental facilities, a towing tank, large and medium cavitation tunnels, an ocean engineering basin, an ice basin, an anechoic tank, and a full mission bridge simulator, all of which can be used for education and research. With our research experience and world-class facilities, our students will become creative and capable research scientists and engineers who will work in industry and research institutes where they will apply what they learned through classroom education and practical hands-on research.
