- In this class, numerical analysis, process synthesis, and optimization methodologies for chemical process design will be introduced. Also ethylene glycol process design, economic analysis, and optimization will be practiced based on them. Through this, students acquire techniques to understand thermodynamic equations of state that simulate gas/liquid equilibrium, reactor modeling using homogeneous/heterogeneous catalysts, separation process modeling with azeotrope, and quantify changes in economics due to changes in process structure and operating conditions. In addition, a methodology that can improve process economics through process optimizations will be introduced.
