Natural Products Chemistry
Summary
Lecture Objectives
- Natural products refer to compounds or substances produced by livingorganisms,
that is, found in nature. In this course, the basic information necessary to understand these natural products will be explained based on the chemical structure.
The detailed contents to be covered in this course are as follows. (1) Introduction to natural products chemistry and secondarymetabolites, separation of natural products,
structural analysis methods, (2) activity guided isolation of active molecules from natural products and introduction. Of representative natural products derived from plants,
microorganisms and other organisms, (3) Introduction of natural products biosynthesis and biosynthetic pathways of representative natural product groups
such as terpenoids, phenolics, and alkaloids, and (4) analysis of natural products through mass spectrometry,
and introduction of research trends in applied natural products through proteomics and metabolomics.
Through this information, we intend to understand the basic contents of natural product chemistry and lay the foundation for future natural product research.
